ASBA Needs Your Photos
ASBA writes multiple technical articles for
a variety of publications throughout the year. We use many great photos
of our award-winning projects. However, we've been asked recently for
some photos we don't currently have. We wanted to find out if our
members had any of the following:
-
'Before' shots of projects in
not-so-good condition. They can be tennis courts, tracks, fields,
indoor facilities, you name it -- but they have to be showing signs
of problems. These can be cracks, delamination, burned-out lights,
sagging nets, scarred surfaces, etc.
-
Shots showing sports facilities being
maintained, repaired or cleaned. These could be fields being mowed,
cleaned, etc., tennis courts being powerwashed, gym floors being
cleaned, etc.
-
Shots of ongoing construction or rehab
on projects.
The only request we have is that photos be
high-resolution (between 500K and 1 MB in size) and that we have your
permission to reprint the photos.
Please send photos via e-mail to Mary Helen Sprecher at
mhsprecher@verizon.net.
Publicize Your Company - and
ASBA!
How
many times have you told a
colleague or a potential client
that your company is a member of
ASBA? A lot, right? How would
you like to save yourself the
time of explaining what ASBA is,
and what it does?
ASBA
now has a tri-fold printed
brochure that discusses what the
Association is, who its members
are, and the programs it offers.
It's great to put in your
prospectus package to potential
clients, and it's great to hand
to reps of non-member companies
when you're describing a project
or meeting you did for ASBA.
The
brochure is available now. Want
a sample copy? Contact Laura
Izzo at
laura@stringfellowgroup.net.

Use your ASBA
member advantage! Go to the
private, members-only section of
the website and you can access a
free 'P.R. toolbox' with press

to promote their organization
throughout the year.

TECHNICAL ARTICLES
A True Tennis Court
Contractor is a Must for a Quality Finished Product
In the current lackluster economy, it seems that
there is a continuing trend of general contractors bidding on tennis
court projects. Just a few months back, our firm saw a company on a
bidders list that we had never heard of before, so we decided to check
out their website. Come to find out they were a home remodeling company.
Apparently, business was slow, so they were bidding on anything they
could find.

Specifications Regarding
the Upcoming Tennis Court Project
Over the past
several years, we have worked with several general/paving contractors
and have seen a trend in regard to the bidding process. Inevitably, the
general will want the tennis court contractor to break out the base and
asphalt, fencing, and surfacing as separate numbers. They will then
choose the lowest of all numbers to plug into their bid calculation.

May We Quote You?
One of ASBA's
most important programs is its
technical articles, which are
written for trade magazines in
various segments of the
industry, including tennis,
track, indoor and fields
facilities. We are always
looking for our members to
comment on, and be quoted in
these articles. This is an
excellent chance to help raise
ASBA's profile, and in an
ancillary capacity, to increase
visibility for your company. If
you would like to be quoted in
these articles, please send an
e-mail to Mary Helen Sprecher at
mhsprecher@verizon.net.
Please indicate your area(s) of
expertise: Tennis, Track,
Indoor, Fields so that we do not
bother you with excess e-mail.
You can be added to more than
one mailing list if you wish.
If you have previously sent Mary
Helen an e-mail asking to be
added to her e-mail list, you do
not need to request again.
However, if your e-mail has
changed and you have not been
receiving questions, please
contact her with your current
e-mail address.
