She has previously served as President of the Professionals Division and has also worked in a number of volunteer capacities for the Association, including presenting at Technical Meetings and working on the editorial committee for the ASBA’s publication, Sports Fields: Construction & Maintenance Manual.

Levitsky, a longtime member of the Association, has been actively involved as a presenter at meetings and an active member of the Professional Division of ASBA.

The new edition, in print or as a downloadable, linked PDF, is available on ASBA’s website,  www.sportsbuilders.org , and can be found by mousing over the top blue toolbar, then selecting “Resources” followed by “Publications.”

The book is designed for anyone involved in building, maintaining, repairing or renovating all types of tennis courts and facilities. It includes user-friendly technical information on all aspects of quality construction, including design, budgeting and planning, site requirements, surface selection, construction, maintenance, repair, amenities, accessories and more. In addition, it includes diagrams, photos, resources and sources for further information. It is also the textbook for those taking the ASBA’s Certified Tennis Court Builder exam.

“The new edition of the Tennis Courts manual has much to recommend itself,” says Fred Kolkmann, the Chairman of the Joint Editorial Board, made up of representatives from both the ASBA and the USTA, who worked to update and rewrite the manual. "We've created a more user-friendly publication that follows the process from conception to construction to completion.”

This year’s edition of the book includes the following new and updated information

  • A new chapter on tennis court technology
  • Expanded information on facilities for adaptive tennis
  • Expanded information and details on specific types of tennis facilities, including competition-specific facilities and tennis training centers/teaching courts
  • Expanded information on selection of a design professional, such as an architect or engineer
  • Updated information on lighting
  • Updated information on trees and other vegetation
  • Updated information on hard courts (asphalt), including control joints
  • An expanded chapter on surfacing systems (outside those of traditional hard courts and soft courts), including prefabricated overlayments and infilled synthetic turf
  • Updated diagrams and photos

The book has also been updated and streamlined overall to create a more concise publication and to make information easier to find.
